Best friends made here!
We are a family of 8, my husband and I have 6 children and 10 golden retrievers. Aside from being golden retriever dog breeders, my husband and I also have full-time occupations. My husband is a carpenter and runs his own business serving others in our community and I am a nurse. Our dog breeding journey began about 4 years ago with Sam, our now 10-year-old very furry golden retriever, who was gifted to us as my “running partner". She immediately had us all loving her and her smile. Although Sammy isn't much of a runner, she is a wonderful companion! Our golden retriever obsession only grew from there. Dog breeding has become so much more than a business to us. It is another opportunity for us to serve others; whether it be by creating a lasting memory for your family, developing friendships, or referring you to another breeder that would better meet your needs.
Our golden retriever dog breeding business is built on integrity, quality breeding, friendship, and creating lasting memories. We value trust and understand that life happens. Therefore, we do not accept any money from our buyers until the puppy is delivered to them. We are members of the Golden Retriever Club of America and do health and genetic testing on many of our dogs. Following these standards and guidelines ensures that we are doing everything in our power to produce quality golden retriever puppies while providing the best care to our adult golden retrievers. Completing these health and genetic tests helps us reduce the chances of having golden retriever puppies with genetic diseases or disorders and allows us to facilitate the best health and qualities in our golden retriever puppies. We also believe everyone should experience the love of a golden retriever! If we are unable to meet your needs or timeline, we are not above referring you to another breeder.
**What to look for in a breeder when buying your Golden Retriever Puppy.**
Not every golden retriever breeder has your dog's best interest in mind. There have become more and more breeders who do not follow the recommended or ethical guidelines when it comes to breeding dogs. It's not necessarily because they are "bad people" or have malicious intent for the dogs, but often because of a lack of knowledge and/or neglect in educating themselves about responsible breeding. Unfortunately, this lack of knowledge and negligence can often lead to poor care and unsafe/unhealthy outcomes for the dogs.
We take pride in our planned, purposeful breeding process and our dogs' overall health, ensuring that they get the best possible care & treatment all year round. We have even rescued a few dogs from breeders who do not follow these higher standards. We've had those rescued dogs spayed/neutered, caught up on recommended medications/vaccines, and found them loving homes in hopes of stopping the cycle from continuing.
We want to share the checklist below to help educate and assist others in their search for a healthy, quality golden retriever puppy. It is a great resource to use when vetting other breeders. Feel free to use the checklist in your own search for your "furever friend"!!

We now know…
We recently took Lisa to be artificially inseminated in hopes of her first litter. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete the process.
Through the process, it came to our attention that her cervix may have a malformation preventing her from getting pregnant naturally in the past and artificially through insemination.
We plan to follow up with the reproductive veterinarian to know for sure. However, it is very possible that she may never have a litter of her own. No matter what we find out, she will still remain a part of our golden family!!

Our golden retrievers live in our home, run our grounds, swim in ponds, run in fields, and are pampered with professional grooming and veterinary care. In addition to regular veterinary exams and check-ups, our golden retrievers receive monthly Interceptor Plus and quarterly Bravecto per standard recommendations. While they live the life of a golden retriever, they also are pampered like a toy poodle. They sleep at the foot of our bed (occasionally sneak on our bed) and eat their meals in the house. As I prepare this note, I have four Goldens at my feet AND absolutely LOVE it.
To ensure you get a spot on our waiting list, we prefer that you reach out to us initially via email or through our contact form on the website. Once we receive your email, we will then schedule a phone call with you at a later date to collect your information and make sure we are meeting your needs. Once our puppies are four weeks old we will create and add you to a Facebook group for the litter. This will allow you to view photos, stay up to date on the puppies' progress, and meet your littermates' parents. The puppy go-home date will be when puppies are eight weeks old. We will then schedule a time to pick up or deliver your golden retriever puppy!
Our golden retriever puppies are adopted quickly! Please reach out to Dana Hakman of Hakman's Golden Retrievers by emailing us at hakmansgoldenretrievers@gmail.com or message us below to ask any questions or reserve your golden retriever puppy.
